Puerto Escondido Location: / Surfer Bill Pells from my Cub Scouts Den 2.Bill and I bumped into each other down there in Mexicoand by coincidence we were both published in Surfer Magazine from that trip.
This is the shot ABOVE Art Brewer picked for the article with surfer Bill Pells RIP.
He was one of those people growing up i kept bumping into since kindergarten class
at Newport Heights Elementary school.

This has particular image is Time zero Polaroid
but....some CGI/computer generated imaging was used. I cloned his dog.
Everything in this Polaroid that I shot of myself in France using the self timer attachment for the SX70 land camera is real and actual except for the dog behind me the guy with the umbrella. For a book i was writing at the time to suit the story I gave my character a dog that I walk proudly without a leash down the streets of Paris, France where i had the fortune of living for four years .
That guy in the door way walked into my shot and this is what i got.so I simply cloned his dog in photoshop et voila. I have only a couple of hours before the film is too cured to suit the painterly strokes needed to etch the emulsion for the desired effect on the actual Polaroid. I un suit after the shot and work the image there in the street at a park bench or where ever available.

| I have 10 seconds to get in the picture after i push the timer on the sx70 polaroid camera.. There is a crowd of on lookers behind me wondering what i am up to while I set up the tri pod and suit up in the umbrella and coat and cane and when they see me push the shutter and sprint into the head wind in this case and i arrive on spot and the hear the shutter of the camera fire i hear a round of applause like onln the french provide to a street performer. Nothing Like it! |
